BMW Smart Key is more than a simple key to unlock your vehicle. It can be used to activate the trunk as well as control the HVAC, monitor your fuel consumption, and much more. You can even precondition the interior of your car so it’s warm or cool when you arrive. The only caveat is that your BMW must be equipped with Comfort Access from the factory or retrofitted by an authorized BMW dealer. Remote Control Parking

It allows the driver to remotely start and park their vehicle while standing outside it. It could be useful in parking spaces in which the vehicle is too big to leave it or to utilize a standard key fob.

The system is easy to set up, but there are some differences based on the kind of BMW you own. If your car has an ignition button, then you’ll need to have an existing key fob that you are able to program to the app. On the other hand, if your car is a 2021 or newer model that uses the BMW Digital Key Plus, then you can simply press your phone against the door handle to open the car, just as it would if you were using a regular key.

You can set the temperature of the interior using both kinds of BMW by using the remote start feature. This will allow you to keep your vehicle at a comfortable temperature while you drive. It’s an excellent way to prepare your vehicle for long-distance travel. The BMW app allows you to choose the desired climate settings and to start the engine from your own home. The smart key can send commands to your car, which will activate the fan or begin heating or cooling interior.

As you would expect from a device designed to replace a smartphone, the BMW display key has a touch screen for operation and provides a wealth of information about your vehicle. You can check the status of the windows, sunroofs doors, alarm system. You can also view the battery level and any other important functions that require attention.

The display key can be charged like a regular phone. Its USB port can be used to charge compatible mobile phones, and there’s a light indicator that displays charging status (Blue=Charging and Orange is not charging) and fault messages.

    Driver Profiles

If you want to add an additional layer of security You can program a key fob to your BMW that will notify you if someone attempts to enter the vehicle without your permission. This feature can be used to lock your windows and sunroof. This technology is useful as it helps you avoid theft and help you save money on fuel.

BMW remote parking can be activated by pressing the key fob button. This is a fantastic feature for those who live in urban areas where parking can be an issue. It will allow you to park your car in a tight space and not have to worry about another driver crashing their car into yours. This is not a ideal solution. You’re still at risk of someone smashing their door on you when you’re not at the wheel.

The BMW Display Key is an elegant key fob that comes with a built-in LCD that provides you with a wealth of information about the condition of your vehicle. It can display security information as well as the status of your door and window, and upcoming service requirements. You can also see your current fuel level and battery electric range so you’ll know when you need to stop for gas.

If you’re looking to share your BMW, you can set up different profiles for each driver. Your car will recognize who’s driving and adjust its settings to suit, including steering wheel position, seat position, lighting, and climate control. You can set limits for teenagers, like maximum speed limits and controls for the volume of the radio.

The key fobs can be shared with up to five other users, but they’ll require a compatible phone and the BMW Connected app installed on it. You can transfer profiles from your phone or create a guest account for a person who wants to borrow the car. This is one of the many smart features in your BMW. There’s more to learn about!

If the batteries in your BMW fob are getting worn out you might ask, “Can I change the battery on the BMW key fob?”. The answer depends on the type you own. The older diamond-shaped BMW fobs, like are not made to be used to replace batteries. They are sealed with glue, so trying to pry off the backplate is likely to cause some damage to the fob. However, more recent fobs can have their batteries replaced by simply opening the fob and swapping out the CR2450 or CR2032 battery.

You can remove the valet keys of the most popular smart key models (1, 3, 5 7 and X) by pressing the small tab. Then, you can open the access port by using the help of a screwdriver. This should reveal a small groove. The valet key can be removed by using the tool to pull the tab out and push it out. Replace the old battery with a new one and then put the cover back on.

You’ll need to take a different approach when you own a Display key with touchscreen. The Display Key is water resistant but not waterproof like a standard fob. You must take care to avoid exposing it too much humidity. It can survive a trip through the washing machine but it’s recommended to treat it as it’s a smartphone. Don’t fret about rain, as long as it is kept away from water.

If you lose your smart key and are worried that it could be stolen, our service technicians can also disable the fob so that it cannot be used to unlock or start your vehicle. We can also help you with any repairs required to the fob, so please contact us if you require assistance!
